High School Study Hall

High School students will be allotted two 47-minute periods of study hall per week with regards to the following objectives.

  1. To provide an opportunity for students who are failing in subjects to raise their grade(s) to passing.
  2. To provide an opportunity for students to make contact with his/her classroom teachers.
  3. To expose students to study skills for improvement of students performance.

The two study hall periods will occur during 7th period on Tuesday and Friday opposite the 3-day modified electives. The following guidelines will apply:

  • All students will report to their CAMP Director's classroom for Study Hall.
  • Regularly scheduled Study Hall could be interrupted on any given date by CAMP Activities, Class Meetings, Activity Period and School Assemblies.
  • Students are expected to bring necessary study materials to class and should not expect a pass to return to their lockers for forgotten supplies.
  • Sending a student to the library will interrupt Mrs. Irvin's Study hall group. Encourage students to check out library books prior to Study Hall.
  • Students are expected to remain quiet and engaged in study during the entire 47- minute period. Idle chatter and meaningless tasks are unacceptable, and unapproved requests to leave will be denied. If homework is completed the expectation is that students engage themselves in reading school appropriate material. Sleeping is absolutely NOT allowed in Study Hall.
  • The classroom teacher must monitor computer usage during Study Hall. Check out of laptops is totally up to the teacher since he or she will be responsible for the management of each computer. Two or three laptops per study hall is a reasonable number.
  • Students needing to make-up work or receive instruction for another teacher will be granted permission ONLY by submission of a teacher signed REQUEST FOR STUDENT form, which should be obtained from the requesting instructor prior to study hall. Please avoid phoning a fellow teacher and asking him/hr to send a particular student to your room, since this is not procedure.
  • Teachers who ask a student to run an on-campus errand for them during Study Hall should keep this practice to a minimum.
  • Running off-campus errands during Study Hall should be avoided.
  • Restroom/water breaks and trips to  the office by students should be limited and kept to a minimum during Study Hall.
